She was leaning back in the chair indolently when he approached, her eyes watching the unfolding drama before her with amused interest.
“Aren’t you going to try to stop them?” He asked hesitantly.
“Why would I want to do that?” A ringing slap was heard and he winced.
“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe the fact that two of the most powerful men in the universe are engaged in a slap-fight like little kids? Why are they fighting anyway?”
“Hmm,” she stifled a laugh. “I think it was something about the Patriots and apple pie being un-American followed by a remark about pickled brains on a liquid diet and an ego too big for the clubhouse. Mutual threats of not allowing the other to play in the sandbox anymore were next.”
She finally gave him her full attention. “What do you need?”
“They are expecting an answer soon,” an explosion sounded somewhere off to their left, and they ducked as a saucer flew too close for comfort over their heads and embedded itself in the wall. “Are we really going to have to choose between those two for the next leader for the initiative?”
“No need to worry about that,” she said. “After they’ve finished destroying their credibility with the group, I’ll offer myself as a rational alternative–to be determined by a democratic vote of all members of course. Can I count on you?”
Two roars of rage on either side of the room raced towards one another and he looked at the expectant expression on her lovely and intelligent face. “Yeah, alright, I’m in. What about them?”
Cement crumbled from the ceiling. “They’ll work it out of their systems eventually. There is no real reason they need to know we had this conversation is there?”
Her curls and cherubic smile sent a small chill up his spine. “Absolutely not. You are clearly the right person for the job.”
“Superheroes,” he shook his head as he walked away before spreading his wings in flight. He’d heard Hawaii was beautiful this time of year.
(Just sayin’ that’s how I think it should go down lol. I had some insomnia last night and started thinking about the next Marvel movie. My sister and her husband are on opposing sides as far as their superhero loyalties go and I was thinking about who I would vote for and this was the result. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see!)
